Application scenarios of laser ranging sensors
Release time: 2022-07-03 11:20:26

Laser distance sensors can be used in situations where other technologies cannot be applied.

For example, when the target is very close, ordinary photoelectric sensors that calculate the reflected light from the target can also complete a large number of precise position detection tasks. However, when the target is far away or the target color changes, ordinary photoelectric sensors are difficult to cope with.

ultrasonic sensor

Although advanced background noise suppression sensors and triangulation sensors can work well when the target color changes, the predictability of their performance deteriorates when the target angle is not fixed or the target is too bright. In addition, the range of triangulation sensors is generally limited to within 0.5m.

Although ultrasonic sensors are often used to detect objects at long distances, they are not affected by color changes because they are not optical devices.

However, ultrasonic sensors measure distance based on sound velocity, so they have some inherent drawbacks and cannot be used in the following situations.

① In situations where the target being tested is not perpendicular to the transducer of the sensor. Because the target of ultrasonic detection must be within a vertical deviation angle of no more than 10 ° from the sensor.

② In situations where a small beam diameter is required. Because the diameter of the ultrasonic beam is usually 0.76cm when it is 2m away from the sensor.

③ In situations where visible light spots are required for position calibration.

④ A windy occasion.

⑤ In vacuum situations.

⑥ In situations with large temperature gradients. Because this situation will cause changes in the speed of sound.

⑦ In situations that require quick response.

Laser distance sensors can solve all the detection problems mentioned above.
